How can I setup my Sky remote to work with my TV?
If you are having difficulty using your remote with your TV (say you are unable to adjust the volume, for example) then this is what you need to do. The instructions are actually already at your fingertips. It would be impractical to run through them here, as it is actually possible to go through the whole process, step by step, on your TV screen.
Before we begin, you will need to know the make and model of your TV. Your set will usually have the brand name on the front and the exact model number will usually be on a stick on the rear of your TV. To tune your remote control for use with your TV, press the "interactive" button (it's a green button near the top of your handset). Once the screen updates, select "Customer Services" from the menu. Again, once the screen updates, select "Equipment Help" and then "Configuring Your Remote". Sky may change the wording of these options, but the concept is the same.
You will be asked to select your TV by brand and model number and you will be given a short code to input along with all relevant instructions. If your exact model of TV is not listed, it might be worth trying the codes associated with different models. Unfortunately if you have exhausted all options and you are still unable to tune in your Sky remote to operate your TVs functions, then it may simply not be possible to use a Sky remote with your particular model of TV.
My digibox is slow to respond. What can I do? (Software upgrade fix)
It very rarely happens, but you may find that one day your digibox isn't operating normally. Say for example your program listings now take an age to appear, whereas perviously they appeared instantly. Sky will routinely update the software in your Sky digibox by sending a signal directly to your box. For whatever reason, it may be possible that your boxes software did not upgrade properly - so the following procedure may fix your problems.
1. Unplug your Digibox from the mains.
2. Press and hold down the "backup" button whilst plugging the mains back in. Note: This is the "backup" button on your digibox, not the one on your remote control. Wait for all the lights on the front of your box to become lit - this may take up to one minute.
3. A message will appear on your screen that will read "Updating System Software".
4. At this point, take your finger off the "backup" button. After a few minutes, when the process is complete your box should turn itself off

How can I tune in extra channels?
It is possible to add extra channels to your current viewing package by manually tuning them in. These channels will not be listed in the "Electronic Program Guide" alongside the likes of Sky One, Sky News, RTE, etc. but it is possible to find them in the "Other Channels" menu. Once you tune in these channels, they will remain stored, in a similar fashion to how you might store stations on your radio.
The procedure for tuning in channels differs slightly depending on what type of Sky box you have. To add channels to any of the oldder Sky boxes (any non-HD box), you need to do the following.
Adding Channels To A Non-HD Sky Box
1. Press the services button on your Sky remote.
2. Select System Setup.
3. Select "Add Channels".
4. Once here you can input the relevant details and tune in extra channels (more on that later).
The method of adding channels to a HD Sky box is slightly different.
Adding Channels To A Sky HD Box
1. Press the services button on your Sky remote.
2. Press the down arrow on your remote and scroll right to "Add Channels".
3. Select "Add Channels".
4. Once here you can input the relevant details and tune in extra channels (more on that later).
You will need to input several settings to tune in these extra channels, these being Frequency, Polarisation, Symbol Rate and FEC. Once you have found and saved your channels, they can be found in the "Other Channels" section of your Sky Menu.
